Our Share-a-Share program aims to support this ideal. First, we offer reduced-price shares to households with demonstrated low income (for example, recipients of EBT, WIC, or medical assistance). Second, we donate at least one CSA share to Community Emergency Services (CES) food shelf in the Phillips neighborhood.
In 2015, we donated just over 1 ton of fresh produce to CES over the course of the season. CES provides food to over 67,000 people in need and fresh produce is always in demand.
This program is made possible by your donations. The more support we receive from the community to do this work, the more shares we’ll be able to allocate to low-income families and the food shelf each week. So help us Share-a-Share today!
You can donate immediately through PayPal (firstname.lastname@example.org), although Paypal claims a small commission on electronic payments. You can also choose to write a check and mail it to us at Growing Lots, 1915 E 22nd St #5 Minneapolis, MN 55404. Please include “Share-A-Share” in the memo line. (If you are already sending in a CSA member application, simply check “Share-a-Share” and include your donation amount in your total balance.)
All supporting donors can opt to be featured on this website at the start of the CSA season, although at this point in time it’s important to note that Share-a-Share donations are not tax deductible. Although social and environmental good are at the core of our mission, Growing Lots is an LLC and doesn’t have any current plans to pursue tax-exempt status.
The good news is that our tax status doesn’t affect the capacity of our work (or your donations) to do real good in the community.
Thanks for your support.
